Yu-Ching

I grew up in Taipei Taiwan, and before Cornell, earned both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees from National Taiwan University. As a big fan of all kinds of animals, I have had various pets since I was little and thus majored in Animal Science for my undergrad studies. Later on, I realized my passion for the delicate regulatory mechanism underneath developmental and regenerative biology, so I turned to molecular biology for my master’s and worked on studying the role of Wnt signaling in the neuronal developmental process of Drosophila sensory neurons. Currently, I am a PhD student in the Genetics, Genomics, and Development program here at Cornell, co-advised by Dr. Cedric Feschotte and Dr. Doina Tumbar. My primary interest now is to explore the crosstalk between transposons and stem cell homeostasis as well as differentiation during wound healing or under other kinds of regenerative signals. Outside of the lab, I enjoy trying new things, such as new games, outdoor activities, or new recipes!
